For Friday: Prepare and practice for Friday's timed essay. This is the written part of your final exam. There will be a passage from Heart of Darkness, and you will need to dissect the prompt and write a well-developed essay. Since you have the passage in front of you, remember to cite evidence from the text. Follow these simple steps to ROCK the essay!
Remember to use ACTIVE VERBS!
1. Read "Basic Principles of the Essay Section" pp. 41-52 in the workbook.
2. Read "The Idea Machine" pp. 109-120 in the workbook Cracking the AP Exam.
3. Part II "In the Heart of Darkness": Reread and annotate pp. 31-36. Close reading: annotate for word choice, figurative language, point of view, symbol/motif, theme.
4. Review Heart of Darkness annotations + questions (see packet).
Prepare for Thursday's Multiple Choice Exam:
1. Read the first three chapters in Part I Cracking the AP Exam (multiple choice) pp. 16-40.
2. Select at least 2-4 practice passages (practice prose and poetry).
