dangerous stories
"Those who do not have power over the story that dominates their lives, the power to retell it, rethink it, deconstruct it, joke about it, and change it as times change, truly are powerless, because they cannot think new thoughts." ~ Salman Rushdie
What is this unit about?
Our lives are shaped by the stories we tell about ourselves and the stories told about us by others.
What questions will we explore?
Why are we doing this?
Stories give us a sense of possibility. Not only do they tell us who we are and where we have come from, they also point a direction for us to go. The more different types of stories you know, the more different types of possibilities you can see for yourself. The more possibilities you have, the more power you have to stay outside of someone else's danger or control. We're going to consider the stories that define and redefine our lives.
