During class, we had a simulation designed to illustrate the power of "Group Think."
Learning objectives:
Due Monday
1. Reread “The Hangman” poem: annotate + After reading:
Answer questions (at least 3)
Choose 1 extended response (see “writing extension” choices)
2. Watch “The Hangman” (video on website) + response to video (how does the video portray the characters + events of the poem? Write a creative response – poem, song, sketch)
3. Evil Scenarios: choose at least 1-2 and write response in Writer’s Notebook: explain BOTH sides (yes & no)
4. Argument of Definition: What is evil? practice essay (at least 7 paragraphs like the courage practice essay): develop 4 criteria that define evil + apply to (choose from the list) - see model essay "Defining Evil" written by Shana Cooper below

* Extra credit: “The Science of Evil”: (watch short 2 minute video clip from "The Science of Evil" and 20 minute video "The Psychology of Evil") below + write a personal response – see options on the half sheet provided)
*Note: "The Psychology of Evil" TEDTalk by Philip Zimbardo includes disturbing graphic images. The most disturbing content/images have been removed by TED.
