1. Argument of Definition Practice essay # 1 : Defining Courage or Responsibility
To what extent is this a courageous act -or - to what extent is the person full responsible for his/her actions in the newspaper article?
Practice essay must include 4 criteria. You must locate a current events news article and refer to the central action desribed in the article in every paragraph. Each paragraph will clearly state one of your criteria for defining courage or responsibility and then explain whether the action meets that criteria or not.
Please refer to the model essay defining Amends.
*Select students will be asked to present their practice essay and facilitate a "think-aloud" revising process. Be ready--you might be asked to present yours.
2. Reading Responsibility (as determined by Reading Groups): The Other Wes Moore readers --you have your books at last! Please read at least the first two chapters by Tuesday and finish Part I by Thursday (through p. 69). Additionally, please write a Reader's Response in your Writer's Notebook , continue to develop your vocabulary journal, and annotate the text. Respond to the questions in the Reading Guide.
