1. Justice pre-writing (at least 2 full pages in your Writer's Notebook): reply to the scenario you selected in class. Use Argument Writing language: state your claim, build a sound argument, address counterclaims ("Some might say...because... However...Therefore...)
2. DIY GRASPS step 1: (a, b, and c)
a. select a text, any text (poem, short story, chapter of a favorite novel), read/re-read, annotate
b. create an "open response": your choice of medium (visual art--painting, sculpture, drawing; creative writing--poem, short story; drama - monologues, one act play; musical composition; interpretive dance)
c. develop an artist statement (at least 500 words, typed): artist statement must explain the relationship between the text and your response
