In class yesterday, we practice developing questions that require close reading of a passage from The Awakening to prepare for the unit test. The structure of the unit test is as follows:

I am attaching an extended interpretive essay I wrote last year that analyzes the use of characterization in two works by Ray Bradbury, his short story "The Veldt" and his novel Fahrenheit 451.
The structure of the unit test is as follows:
- a passage from The Awakening followed by 10 multiple choice questions (see question stems and practice questions)
- a short answer section that requires you to identify three specific references to one of the main subjects of Song of Solomon, place the reference in context, and explain how the reference illuminates the meaning of the work as a whole (a specific prompt will be provided)
- an essay (prompt similar to what you might encounter on the AP Free Response Question 3)
