Yesterday I read all of the first drafts submitted to turnitin.com. Before I provide you with feedback on your drafts, I ask that you do the following:
2 = at least 2 more citations from critical essays
*Please e-mail me the SWOQ2 by the end of Friday.
Thank you to Lamar, Kara, and Gabriella for contributing to the online discussion on turnitin.com "Was Conrad Really a Racist?" Especially since we are not having class today, please post your contributions and keep the conversation going.
Due Monday:
1. Read + annotate the excerpts from Exterminate All the Brutes by Sven Lindqvist. I have typed several key excerpts and uploaded in the Document Viewer below. I am attaching the PDF of the chapters as well. Compose a Reader's Response in your Writer's Notebook.
*I prepared and designed this to help you re-think, revise, and prepare a counterargument for your critical essay.
2. Read + annotate Joseph Conrad's "An Outpost of Progress" in The Bedford Introduction to Literature (693-708) + answer the questions (see attachment).
Compose a Reader's Response to the story in your Writer's Notebook.
I have uploaded a copy of the story below in case you do not have your Bedford.
"Thank you, Ms. Arbeiter." You are quite welcome. :)
Happy Reading and Writing.
- Reflect: draft a brief reflection in your Writer's Notebook, noting S = strengths (i.e., what is working in your essay)
2 = at least 2 more citations from critical essays
- Write the counterargument: draft a counterargument paragraph that also cites at least 1 critical essay
- E-mail me S. W. O. Q. 2 + counterargument
